Westgate Hills Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center Launches New Cardiac Care Program

Skilled Nursing Offering Aims to Meet Specialized Healthcare Need in Baltimore Area

Westgate Hills Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, a 120-bed skilled nursing facility in Baltimore, has launched a new Cardiac Care program. Board-certified cardiologist Dr. Athol Morgan is overseeing the initiative, which is designed to accommodate regional need for this specialized healthcare focus.

Westgate Hills Cardiac Care is designed to promote independence and quality of life through reducing symptoms and decreasing disability in heart patients, while increasing their participation in physical and social activities. Services are tailored for individuals with congestive heart failure, post heart transplants, and acute myocardial infarctions, among other diagnoses.

In addition to consults with Dr. Morgan and other board-certified specialists, Westgate Hills heart patients will benefit from certified nurses on staff, seven days per week therapy services as prescribed, 24/7 access to lab and radiology services, and a range of additional services and therapies. Westgate Hills also features an expansive state-of-the-art rehab gym, an activities of daily living (ADL) practice suite with kitchen, and a transitional sub-acute suite.

Marquis Health Services provides nursing home administrative services for Westgate Hills and spearheaded the development of the Cardiac Care program. “We are pleased to have Dr. Morgan, a well-respected cardiologist in the Baltimore area, lead Westgate Hills’ cardiac rehabilitation initiative,” said Nikki Gachot, regional director of business development at Marquis. “Westgate Hills, like other Marquis member facilities in the region, has aligned itself with leading health systems including MedStar, LifeBridge and the University of Maryland. The result is a comprehensive approach to healthcare and disease management for the local community.”

Located at 10 North Rock Glen Road, Westgate Hills Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care. As part of its programming, Westgate Hills offers education and training for patients and family members, and coordination of home care services – including Marquis’ CARE NAVIGATION™ program. The facility also offers 24/7 admissions direct from the emergency room.

A highly skilled and vision-driven nursing home administrative services company based in Brick, N.J., Marquis Health Services currently supports Mid-Atlantic and New England facilities totaling nearly 4,500 skilled nursing and assisted living beds, as well as more than 2,000 independent living units.
