BALTIMORE, March 21, 2022 – Building on its vision to develop the area’s leading subacute rehabilitation services, Westgate Hills Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Baltimore has introduced Physiatry programming and in-center consultative support under the direction of Efrain Perez-Bravo, MD. Located at 10 North Rock Glen Road, the 120-bed skilled nursing facility provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab, and long-term residential care.

Physiatry services – also known as physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) services – blend pain treatments and physical therapy with the goal to help patients avoid surgery. This physician-led, “whole body” approach at Westgate Hills centers on designing, coordinating, and overseeing customized rehabilitation therapies for patients while managing their medical conditions, including co-morbidities. The program is tailored for individuals with a range of diagnoses and rehab needs.

Board-certified in PM&R, Dr. Perez-Bravo serves as a physiatrist consultant with Progressive Care Medical Group of MD, focusing on their nursing facility clients. He is a member of the North American Spine Society, Association of Academic Physiatrists and American Academy of PM&R.

“I am pleased to join Westgate Hills’ dedicated team in offering progressive, patient-centered skilled nursing care,” said Dr. Perez-Bravo. “Our customized rehabilitation programs will optimize outcomes for patients, aiming to help them regain independence and get back to everyday activities.”

Westgate Hills developed the new offering with Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports the facility. “The addition of Physiatry programming will help maximize Westgate Hills’ rehab services and assist in improving patients’ functional outcomes,” said Marquis’ Nikki Gachot, regional director of market development. “Westgate Hills is thrilled to welcome Dr. Perez-Bravo as its director of physiatry. He is known for both his medical expertise and caring manner.”

Beyond providing quality care, Westgate Hills is committed to serving as a healthcare resource for area residents. Together with Marquis, it has established a resource library of physician-curated content, addressing many topics of interest for families of patients and the larger community. It can be accessed at westgatehillshc.com.

Based in Brick, N.J., Marquis Health Consulting Services is a highly skilled and vision-driven nursing home consulting company currently supporting Mid-Atlantic and New England facilities totaling approximately 6,000 skilled nursing and assisted living beds.
